Just south of Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood is Leschi, and while you might think the two areas are similar in nature, they are actually quite unique. Leschi was originally named for a Nisqually tribal chief while it was being developed in the 19th century as a way to honor the past and bring the Nisqually tribe’s values into the future community. Along Lake Washington, you’ll find condos and apartments dotting the shore, with single-family homes and condos surrounding Leschi Park and stretching south, close to I-90. If you love to cycle, you can start and end in Leschi at the I-90 tunnel for the Mercer Island 10 mile loop. On Lakeside Ave., you’ll find smaller, locally owned restaurants with some bars, coffee shops and offices sprinkled throughout the businesses. With a mix of state-of-the-art new construction and historic early 1900s tudor-style houses, the Leschi neighborhood is the best blend of Seattle’s past and future merging in one community.
