Named after the largest lake in Snohomish County, Lake Stevens has the down-to-earth, laid back vibe you’re looking for. The city stretches along the north shore of the lake, just south of Marysville, with calm blue waters perfect for kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. Even though Lake Stevens was formerly the hub to regional saw mills, the lands have been repurposed for public parks and local businesses. Spend an afternoon learning more about the region’s past at the Lake Stevens Historical Society, or join the local Lake Stevens Rowing Club. Fun fact: Lake Stevens is the hometown to movie star Chris Pratt of the Marvel Comic Universe fame. You might run into him while you’re out having dinner when he’s visiting family!
