International District

Seattle’s vibrant and rich Asian community is celebrated in the Chinatown – International District neighborhood, a microcosm of three neighborhoods in one. Walking through the CID, you’re transported with the sights of the Chinatown Gate with its traditional architecture, the smells of dim sum and umami-steeped ramen wafting through the doors of family-owned restaurants that have been passed down from generation to generation. Find classic Asian foods and gifts galore at Uwajimaya, the largest Asian grocery and home goods store in the Pacific Northwest. In late Spring, you can take in the gorgeous view of Seattle’s skyline with the backdrop of the cherry blossoms in Kobe Terrace. Visit the Wing Luke Asian Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience for a deeper look at the history, traditions and challenges this community has faced. Spend the day in Hing Hay Park to see the Chinatown-International District’s community at its fullest, drop in for morning Tai-Chi or a game of chess, and celebrate Chinese New Year with friends and family alike.
